Monumental buildings are part of our cultural heritage. Maintaining these monuments often requires significant efforts. Many of the roof and floor constructions are made from wood, which attracts many wood destroying species.
Traditional wood preservation methods often uses plugs, which deteriorate the appearance of these monumental building. EWS has developed the perfect solution: monument fumigation. By fumigating the location, all wood destroying species are neutralised in all their life stages.
During this process, the monumental building that is to be fumigated is enclosed in gas-tight tarps. The gas is inserted into the structure, after which the gas concentration is closely monitored during a 48 hour period.
Once the right gas concentration has been present long enough to neutralise all wood destroying insects, the monument fumigation process is ended and EWS ventilates the monument until all residual gases have dissipated.
